for this demo I wanted to get that classic B-3 FUNK / SOUL feel .... I created a drum track and then played along to it using the on board music player ... the sounds used here are B-3 Custom setting Mellow / Husky and EP Rd 1 Pan. Everything you hear (except the the MP3 drum track) is from a custom Favourite I have created for the Sk .. This is sort of my " bread and butter - foundation ' sound for a lot of my playing on the Sk1 and Sk2.
I used the classic Hammond left hand bass technique with 16 - 5 1/3 and 8 lower drawbars but added a little EP1 under the Hammond sound just to give a bit of dynamic to the piece
I hope this shows how incredibly versatile the Sk1 and Sk2 actually are ... as with the other demo pieces .. all the EQ - Reverb etc are from the Sk2 and was recored live into MAC / LOGIC and saved as a MP3 with no post production ... Malc
for this demo track I wanted to use the Sk to recreate the classic 'live sound' of a 60's B-3 played through the much underrated PR40 cabinet & no Leslie speaker .....
I made a drum track and then saved as a MP3 file which was then played back using the Sk's music player .. then I played the Hammond part in live and just recorded as 1 take into a MAC / LOGIC ... all the effects- EQ - Reverb etc are from the Sk and it was saved as a MP3 with no post production
the various B-3 custom settings ( B type 1 - B type 2 - Mellow) are incredible and each one has its own unique characteristic which can be immediately heard .. for this piece I really wanted that live sound from the 60's so chose the PR40 simulator rather than the Leslie as this is a very tough test for any Hammond ... only C3 Vibrato was used which is very accurate .. I hope you can here the expressive and tactile quality of the Sk in this particular demo piece .. it really does give you that special 'Hammond Groove' feel and experience .... Malc
